Greenwood, Indiana – The Greenwood community is mourning the unexpected loss of McKenzie Vibbert, the talented and passionate owner of Alivia Knox Photography, who passed away suddenly. A creative force and beloved friend to many, McKenzie’s passing has left a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, clients, and the broader community she so joyfully captured through her lens.
It is with great sadness & a heavy heart to announce the unexpected passing of McKenzie Vibbert on Friday April 4th, 2025. Kenz was one of the most supportive, caring, & resilient individuals I have ever met. She knew no stranger, always brought warmth & light wherever she went, & had a heart that overflowed with kindness & empathy. She deeply loved those around her, especially her beloved children, Kaydence & Knox. In just a few short weeks, she was set to finish her Master’s degree in Social Work– a testament to her unwavering dedication of helping others.
McKenzie was more than just a photographer—she was a storyteller, a memory-keeper, and an artist who found beauty in everyday moments. Through her business, Alivia Knox Photography, she created lasting impressions and timeless portraits for countless families across Indiana. Whether it was a maternity shoot, a wedding, or a family milestone, McKenzie brought warmth, vision, and sincerity to every frame she touched.
Born and raised in Indiana, McKenzie cultivated a love for the arts early in life. Her natural ability to connect with people and put them at ease in front of the camera made her a favorite among clients and collaborators. She had a special gift for making people feel seen, celebrated, and confident—qualities that radiated both in her personal and professional life.
To those who knew her best, McKenzie was described as kind-hearted, fiercely loyal, and full of life. Her laugh was infectious, her energy uplifting, and her presence comforting. She brought light into every room she entered, and she was the kind of person who remembered the little things that made people feel special.
McKenzie’s passion extended beyond her photography. She was a devoted family member and a cherished friend, always ready to lend a hand, offer a word of encouragement, or share in a moment of joy or sorrow. Her sudden passing has left those close to her grappling with a deep sense of loss, but also filled with gratitude for the memories she helped create and the love she gave so freely.
Tributes have poured in on social media from past clients and friends, many of whom shared photos McKenzie had taken over the years—now even more treasured. One former client wrote, “McKenzie didn’t just take our photos, she captured our hearts. I will never forget her kindness, her joy, and the way she made us feel like family.”
In this time of sorrow, the community wraps its arms around McKenzie’s loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, creativity, and connection—one that will live on through every image she captured and every life she touched.
A memorial service will be announced in the coming days. In honor of McKenzie’s life and work, the family encourages those who were impacted by her photography or friendship to share their favorite photos and memories online, using the hashtag #RememberingMcKenzie.
