SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — A 27-year-old man is dead and his roommate is facing serious charges following a tragic incident early Sunday morning on Warren Street in Saratoga Springs.

According to the Saratoga Springs Police Department, emergency dispatch received a distressing call just after midnight reporting that a man had been shot with a BB gun and was bleeding heavily and struggling to breathe.

When officers arrived at the residence, they found the victim unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency medical teams from the Saratoga Springs Fire Department provided immediate care before transporting the victim to Albany Medical Center. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The victim has been identified as Michael Collins, 27, of Saratoga Springs.

Police have arrested 26-year-old Brendan Carl, also of Saratoga Springs, in connection with the incident. Carl has been charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a Class C felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was arraigned Sunday in Saratoga Springs City Court by Judge Wait and remanded to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Bail was set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 partial bond, or $300,000 full bond.

The Saratoga Springs Police Department confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities have not released further details about what may have led to the shooting.
